Baby Notes

Before we started with blog we had been taking notes about Alex and Cate in a Word document.  I just copied and pasted it so we wouldn't lose our notes.  We plan on making hard bound books with milestones, posts and pictures for both babies after their first birthday.   

ALEXANDER – Looks like mama with daddy’s eyes and eyelashes

·         Loves to be swaddled from the armpits down – needs those hands and arms free 3/27/11

·         On tummy on mom or dad’s chest is the best place to be 3/27/11

·         Smiles when going to sleep if mom or dad is holding him 3/27/11

·         Cord fell off – 4/5/11

·         Weight – birth 5-15, dropped to 5-8 (3-24), 5-7 (3-28), 6-5 (4/4)

·         Newborn Pics taken 4/5 (Professional), 4/6 (Home)

·         Weight at 7-15 (4/15)

·         Grunts a lot!  Reflux makes it hard to sleep – week of 4/5 – ongoing

·         Big chunker – so cute! 4/17

·         Grabs and holds fingers – week of 4/25

·         Starting to look and focus briefly – week of 4/25

·         Strong neck muscles, can lift head up when on tummy – week of 4/18

·         Grasps hands together – mid-May

·         First purposeful smile back – 5-20-11

·         Small birthmark – left outside ankle – late May

·         Switched to #2 nipple – mid june

·         Started sleeping part of the night <75% in crib – mid june

·         Working down to 1.5 middle night feedings (snack early early morning) – mid june

·         Started schedule and naps – mid june

·         Starting to verbilize – “Ahhh” – mid june

·         Brings hands to mouth to try and suck on them – week of June 20, 2011

·         Reached out to briefly grasp toy – 6/25/11

·         Vocalizes a lot and moves arms and legs when seeing music/light/bugs toy on activity mat 7-1-11

·         Wide eyed, smiley, happy-go-lucky personality (except when he needs food!) July 2011

·         Good at sleeping in crib, easy to put to sleep early July 2011

·         Rolled tummy to back 7/6

·         Target thumb sucking 7/27

·         Getting so big!  August 2011

·         Turns head to interesting noises and to his name (sometimes) – week of 8/22

·         Tried brown rice/oatmeal cereal – it was ok, see video – 9/3/11

·         Moved to large diaper inserts (>16 pounds) from small – skipped mediums – 9/5

·         Sweet Potatoes – 9/7/11

·         Pears – 9/10/11

·         Pea – 9/13/11

·         Sitting up during the last week of September

·         Grabbing feet while sitting and getting diaper changed - the last week of September

·         Lots of sitting up and playing – October

·         Fist bath with Cate in big tube with bubbles 10-17-11, have pics

·         Rolled back to front 3x – 10-18-11, have video

·         First solids by hand – no honey graham crackers – 10-22-11 (video and pics)

·         Held sippy cup and tried to drink – did not actually drink 10-22-1 (pics)

CATHERINE – Looks like daddy with mama’s eyes and eyelashes

·         Starting to verbalize more – Naaa, Eh, Ahhh 6-27-11

·         Clutches dress/shirt and tries to eat it 7-1-11

·         Always observing, sly side smiles early July 2011

·         Will not sleep in crib still – sleeps with mama, needs less sleep than Alex early July 2011

·         Laughing – first loud purposeful laugh – making funny mouth noise  8/12/11

Alex: excited gasps before now, but first bug purposeful laugh on 7-21-11.  Laying on changing table getting ready for bed, mama was putting together night diapers and kept asking Alex to “hold” the pieces and piled them on his tummy – he belly laughed at this
