Adult Weekend in Duluth

Our "group" of college friends has definitely expanded over the years with partners and kids welcomed with open arms.  We are all busy, busy people, but have made it a priority to keep our friendships close.  We have a monthly potluck dinner, along with 4 weekend trips per year - Guys, Ladies, Adults, and a summer Family camping trip.  This weekend was our adults only trip to Duluth for two nights.  We had a blast and thank Grandma and Grandpa Bulinski for taking such good care of Alex and Cate on short notice.  Nonna had to head to Florida to help out as her brother (Rachel's Uncle Gary) is sick.

We spent the weekend eating (Brewhouse, Old Chicago, Pizza Luce, Amazing Grace), drinking (um, lots of alcohol, especially at the outdoor Ice Bar), walking (Canal Park, Lakewalk), swimming in the heated outside pool (love the Inn on Lake Superior), ice skating, and watched a UMD Bulldogs hockey game (which they lost - boo).

Driving home was an adventure to say the least.  We headed out right after an early lunch because we knew snow was due.  The drive wasn't too bad until right south of Hinkley - a little more than halfway home.  We crawled along at 10-25 mph until Forest Lake - you could not see the edges of the highway, let alone the pavement.  It was a pretty stressful end to an otherwise relaxing weekend.

Our snowy car after the treacherous drive home.
