Baby Names

We picked names for our babies!  We think they are final provided that the babies look like their chosen name, but don't monogram anything yet :-)

Baby A - Boy:  Alexander Squires Bulinski   "Alex"

Baby B - Girl:  Catherine Squires Bulinski   "Cate"

As one might notice, neither of those names were on our short list (see Thanksgiving post).  We had loved the name Catherine (with Cate as a nickname), but felt that with all the Caitlins, etc. that the name Cate may have been overdone.  It was kind of the same story with Alexander.  Mike is pretty sensitive to having a super popular name - just ask the 3 Mikes that work in his small lab.  We had always said that a Top 10 name was out.  We spend some time looking at the Social Security Name site, which was great since you could look at names over the years as a ranked list, by % of babies with that name and popularity over time.  We found that names are overall more diverse.  So, even the number one name - less than 1% of all baby boys were named that.  With that data - all the names were fair game.

Names that we considered:

Boy: Vaughn, Harrison, Jameson

Girl: Charlotte, Mira, Claire, Rozlynn

 So, names are pretty set.  We wanted to acknowledge us as their parents and use Rachel's last name as each baby's middle name and then Mike's last name as the baby's last name.
