Ultrasound, Holidays, and Duluth - Oh My!

We had our 24 week ultrasound on December 20th with Dr. Hartung.  Again, no news is great news.  The babies are both growing well, the discordance is still less than 10% and both heart rates are in the normal range.  Baby A is head down and Baby B is still breech.  Still hoping Baby B will flip head down, but Dr. Hartung said as long as Baby A is vertex - he is well practiced in breech births and breech extractions.  We love that he doesn't immediately jump to "C-section."  Also, Rachel passed the test for gestational diabetes!

The Holidays are upon us!  We had a busy time this year.  As always, we acknowledge a number of different holidays from different traditions.  The Winter Solstice was on December 21 - the shortest day of the year.  The days start getting longer and even though winter is far from over here in Minnesconsin, brighter days are ahead.
We had a number of Xmas and Holiday parties - one with our college/RA friends, two with Mike's extended family and one with Rachel's extended family.  Fun times were had by all.

The week between Xmas/Boxing Day/Yule/Saturnalia and New Year has become our traditional time to head to Duluth, MN for a mini-break.  We headed up to the South Pier Inn for two nights which is right next to the Lift Bridge.  We spent our time walking the lake walk (bundled up of course), visiting our favorite restaurants and shops, sitting in front of the fireplace and spending time in hot tub in our room.  We also saw a couple of large ships heading into the Duluth Harbor under the Lift Bridge - about 30 feet from our hotel window.  It was a nice and relaxing time - next year we will have our babies with us :-)
