Hospital Tours

We toured both Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury, MN and Hudson Hospital in Hudson, WI.  Since we are having twins and are considered higher risk than a singleton, there are a number of scenarios for the delivery of our babies.

If the babies are going to be born before 32 weeks gestation, we would have to deliver at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN since they have a level 3 NICU as the babies would most likely need medical support.  From 32 to 36 weeks gestation, we would have to deliver at Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury, MN.  That hospital has a level 2 NICU and can offer some support, although not as much as United.  After 36 weeks, we can deliver at Hudson Hospital in Hudson, WI.  They can offer limited support to babies that need medical attention.  If additional support is needed, there is a NICU team that travels around the Twin Cities area and moves babies to different hospitals.

After 36 weeks, there would be no attempt at stopping labor.  Our doctor says at that point, the drugs and interventions can do more harm than good.

Both Woodwinds and Hudson are fairly new facilities.  They offer beautiful rooms, room service, nice Dad beds, etc.  Of course, our first priority is healthy babies - but a nice birth experience would be great too.
